Change the Channel


During a delightful dinner conversation at the Belize Boutique Resort and Spa one of the owners talked about the power of our thoughts. She said, “You wouldn’t continue to watch a tv show or listen to a song you don’t like. You would change the station or channel. We need to do the same thing with our thoughts.” When we have negative or worst-case scenario thoughts, they can take us in a downward spiral of despair. If we are careful about identifying them when they come, we can replace them with thoughts that serve our greater good. Here are a few quick strategies to support you in changing the channel. Mental Playlists. Painful thoughts can be powerful, so it’s helpful to have a few mantras or affirmations on deck that we can readily switch to when this happens. Think about each thing that you want to invite into your life. For example, Abundance. That will be the title of your playlist. Then, come up with positive statements that support that theme. For instance, “I am a money magnet,” or, “All of my needs are met.” Binge Watch. Every August I spend my summer nights binge watching a series that I didn’t get to watch when it was popular because my schedule used to be so demanding. I get so lost in the flow of the fantasy that Netflix often stops to ask me, “Are you still there?” Create a mental movie of what your life will look like when you’ve attracted the abundance, relationships, or success that you dream about. Give yourself permission to get lost in that daydream every night just before bed when your subconscious is most susceptible. Adjust Your Antennae. Before streaming and video on demand existed, we had to have an antenna on our homes, televisions, and cars to get a clear picture or sound. Our eyes and ears can be antennas that pick up all sorts of frequencies and energies, many of which may be filled with noise and static. Move into spaces that provide clarity of vision and avoid barriers that obstruct your ability to hear your wise inner voice clearly. This week I challenge you to pay close attention to your thoughts and use these strategies to quickly change the channel to enhance your mental viewing and listening pleasure. Manifestation Affirmations I am attracting energy that enhances my clarity. I am giving myself permission to dream while I’m awake. I am attuned to frequencies that elevate me.
