Imagine driving to a distant location on a country road at the darkest time of night. You have the address and your map, but you can’t see your destination. Does this mean that you will never arrive? No. All you need to see is as far as the headlights reach. The headlights won’t illuminate your entire path, but they will consistently get you far enough to make progress on your journey.
When we have a vision for where we want to go in life, we won’t see the entire pathway and our desired location all at once. All we need to do is to believe that it exists and that what we are hoping for is possible for us. Accept that it will take time and it will require using your map to make sure you are going in the right direction. Understand that no matter how accurate our directions are, they don’t guarantee that we won’t run into roadblocks, construction, or traffic. Delays do not change the destination, only the time that it takes and perhaps the route by which we will arrive.
Whenever I dare people to dream big, to name and claim what they really want, one of their first responses is, “But how?” If you’ve done the work by creating your map, which in essence are your goals and concrete action steps, then all you need to drive you forward is your “why.” Some questions that will help you to determine your "why" include:
What or who propels you forward?
What are you willing to fight for or walk away from?
Once you get clear on your "why," allow the power of intention, focus, and manifestation to determine the “how.”
This week I challenge you to create your map, and if you already have one, return to your journey with this message in mind. Your map is your plan which includes your goals and action steps. Trust the light that illuminates your path. Follow what it reveals to you even if you can’t see the entire voyage before you. Trust that your map and your vehicle will get you to where you want to go. Your vehicle is what drives you, which is your work and your why. Put in the work, remember your why, and let your focus be your fuel.
I am basking in the belief of what is possible for my life.
I trust the light that illuminates my path.
I am driven by my "why" and my focus is my fuel.
