You Deserve Abundance

This month the theme in my group coaching community has been abundance. During our session last week, we did an activity called The Money Tree Root Cause Analysis. This is where we dug well beneath the surface to get down to some of the underlying issues beneath our real or perceived challenges with money. Each of us worked on the exercise individually, but we discovered that we had one thing in common. Deep down, in some way or another, we didn’t believe we were deserving of what we desired.

This revelation at the beginning of our session made for the perfect transition into my presentation of the 7 Money Myths from the book, The Abundance Code. Our feelings didn’t magically appear out of nowhere. They were the bitter fruit of seeds planted long ago by society and our history. These were inherited mindsets rooted in scarcity that no longer serve who we have become.

Here are a few strategies to support us all as we shift to believing that we are deserving of what we desire when it comes to abundance and prosperity.

Presence. The Money Tree Root Cause Analysis activity that I mentioned above works like this… Put your money or abundance mindset-related challenge at the top of a piece of paper. From there, draw two branches out to the reasons why this thing is a challenge for you. Continue by drawing two branches and two more reasons from each of your initial reasons. Keep going until you can’t anymore.

What we usually find at the root is something so far from where we started, but so important in terms of where we need to take action for change to occur. That’s where I discovered that my poor decisions when it came to money in the past were rooted in fear which led to avoidance. I wouldn’t even look at my bank account. Paying attention or being present to what is both at the surface and the layers below gives you information that you can use to make the necessary changes for growth.

Proximity. My favorite quote by Tony Robbins is, “Proximity is power. If you want to have an extraordinary life, surround yourself with people who make you better.” Not only does this sound good, but I know this to be true from firsthand experience. Opportunities and inspiration began to flow to me abundantly when I became extremely intentional about who I was spending the most time with.

Preparation. I’m sure we have all heard some variation of the phrase, “Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst.” This quote reminds me of a concept related to having a scarcity mindset called negativity bias. This is the tendency to give more weight to negative information or experiences. What if we prepared for the best instead? Positive preparation may prove to be a powerful pathway to prosperity.

This week I challenge you to examine the inherited or unhelpful beliefs or mindsets that may be holding you back from the abundance of health, wealth, love and whatever else it is that you desire.
